ABOUT THE PADDLEBASS

This is an unusual bass. It doesn't look like a Fender, Gibson, Yamaha or anything else. It's not a "boutique bass", either.

It was designed with only one thing in mind: What is the most practical, best-sounding, nice playing bass I can design that looks nothing like a conventional bass?

I have a lasting relationship with the bassguitar (25 years). Playing 200 gigs a year for four years in a row, recording a studio-album for a record label and several singles was part of that. So I got a chance to discover what I really want in a bass. At home, on the road, on stage and in the studio. Besides that, I've built, repaired an modified a lot of instruments. Now this year it seemed to be the right tiime to bring all of it together and build my ultimate instrument!

Sound: The combination of a one-piece-mahogany body and a bolt-on neck. It gives warmth, sustain and punch. More than any other bass I've played. The placement of the silent, high-output singlecoils is the result of a very thorough testing process, the series/parallel switch adds a real humbucking, fat sound if requiered. The tonecontrol is adapted to it's unique range, you can make it's grand piano-output sound like anything you want! The reviewers and all other people who have heard or played it agree on one thing: The sound!

Playability: It handles very easily because it's quite small compared to other basses. Compared to other "Paddle-like"-shaped basses it's an ergonomical dream because of the balance (no neckdive!) and the "Thunderbird-like-ridge" gives you the freedom to put your thumb anywhere so you can play the strings over the full length of the body... And make your sound.

Portability: It's so easy to take it with you in a van or a bus, a train, and it doesn't need a stand! You can put it right against an amp, or a wall.

Price: It's properly priced. You get what you pay for, you don't pay for my advertising because I don't do any of that. It's only 850 euro's, in Europe that's comparable to a factory-made Mexican Fender.

Looks: It says "Mwuhahahaha!"... If you need a vintage bass or a boutique-bass to cover your image, it's not for you!  It just likes to shock and awe. And it does ;)

The PaddleBass is the result of my own experience and research. It's built out of parts that are carefully selected and it won't let you down. The body is handmade in Holland from one piece of Mahogany. You can choose a colour and the bass will be built and finished especially for you.
